The General English Course
 
The General English Course is available at 6 levels: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced.  Students will be placed in the appropriate level according to the results of their placement test and can move on to higher levels according to their progress. 
Period of operation: All year round
Level: Beginner to Advanced
Duration of 1 lesson: 45 minutes
Lessons per week:  4-20 lessons
Maximum students in class: 10 students
Minimum students in class:  4 students
 
Beginner

This is an introductory course for those learners who are starting their study of English for the first time.  It provides a comprehensive language base intended to prepare even a complete beginner to move on to the next higher level.   The course will cover the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.  In this way, even on a beginner’s level, the students are encouraged to develop their own learning strategies.  Lessons are directed in a gentle manner so as to encourage the less-confident learners but, at the same time, with plenty of practice.  Successful students will be able to conduct simple conversations and have the knowledge of simple English structures.
 
Elementary

 
In this course, the emphasis is on learning the communicative use of English in everyday situations and is meant to accelerate the pace at which the students achieve certain language independence. Clear objectives in these lessons give the students more conversational skills and more listening and writing activities.   The course is an opportunity for our young / adult clients to maximise their study time and obtain necessary language skills to help them move on to the next grade.  At the end of the course students will be able to ask simple questions, express their needs in simple language and understand basic texts.
 
Pre-Intermediate
 
This course is a vital step towards achieving a preliminary level of proficiency in English Language communication without which students will find it hard to continue in their study.  It is designed to enable students to communicate easily with each other in English and to feel at home in an English-speaking environment.  The course will motivate the students to achieve a real breakthrough into the next level of study, enabling them to work largely on their own.
 
Intermediate
 
This Course is designed to help students improve their English usage and integrate those aspects of language learnt by them in the past.  Course material is based on current and contemporary topics, giving the students the necessary practice to create their own personal contributions and to build up self-confidence.  Essentially, this course aims to refresh and consolidate existing levels of correct English and, at the same time, introduce new skills to match the wider use of English at the next higher level.
 
Upper-Intermediate
 
The aim of this course is to provide students with meaningful material that helps them to improve their fluency and practice of English in everyday use.  At this level, the students themselves are ambitious enough to embark on more in-depth language assignments, such as extensive reading, word-formations and varied sentence patterns.  In all cases, language items will be related to real-life situations so that our students, already proficient in the use of English, will widen their communicative perspective by participating in discussions, role-play and essay/report writing.
 
Advanced
This course is structured in such a way as to help students achieve their full potential, stretching their capabilities in the use of idiomatic English as an every-day medium of communication.   Training will be intensified in listening comprehension and in writing practice and language focus will explore analysis as well as knowledge of grammar points.  The methodology in this course will be done in an enjoyable manner so as to sustain the students’ interest as they sharpen their ‘real world’ skills in vocabulary, idioms, casual conversation and academic discussion.
 
One-to-One General English
A highly motivating user-related course in General English but also designed to satisfy the specific needs of an individual student.  Together with the teacher, the student will identify those language skills and systems, which require reinforcement and revision. The emphasis, as in all the other courses, is on the practical use of English and the language tasks are related to the job or profession in which English will be used with confidence and correctness.

This course is available at all levels from Beginner to Advanced

The Language Centre is an independent academic sub-unit of EABA.which was established in 1993. The main objective of the Language Centre is to organise foreign language teaching and testing both for the students of the Academy and general public.

The activities of the Language Centre:

• Language courses (different language levels from A1-C2) for the students of EABA and other universities and to the wider audience;
• Special language courses intergrated in the curricula of the faculties of the Estonian-American Business Academy
• Language tests and exams;
• Elaboration and improvement of the concept of general and speciality language teaching at EABA

Methodology

The curriculum is based on the best of modern teaching methodology. All  EABA Language Language Courses offer :
Qualified and experienced faculty: All  lectures have the appropriate qualifications in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages , and are experienced professionals.
Dynamic classes: Classes are interactive and fast-moving. You will be motivated to participate in class projects, role-plays and group work.
Integrated curriculum: The curriculum integrates all language skills into each lesson, so you will find yourself studying grammar, listening, speaking, reading and writing from your first day.
Small classes: The average class size is 8 students, and the maximum is 14. This allows your instructors to give you personal attention.
Accurate placement: Classes are available at all levels, from Beginner to Advanced . You will be tested on your first day and regularly throughout your course.

The Intensive English Program  is our most popular course. It allows you to specialize in areas of the language that interest you most.
The 20 lessons each week are divided as follows:
Twenty-four lessons per week at the appropriate level in Grammar, Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking
Six lessons per week:
1.English for Business and the Professions 
2.Pronunciation Development 

Self-study and homework assignments are part of your course. You will be expected to complete your self-study assignments and may use our multi-media centers and specialized software.  

ACADEMY Preparation Program

Course Summary

The Academy Preparation Program is specifically designed for students who are considering study at  EABA after completing their English course.
This challenging course  also concentrates on the skills necessary for academic success.
The 20 lessons each week are divided as follows: 
Sixteen  lessons per week in Applied Grammar, Academic Reading and Writing, Listening and Speaking, all with an emphasis on developing necessary skills for college study .Six lessons per week, specializing in:
Business English and pronunciation development.
Students in this program, with the permission of the professor, may have the option of auditing college classes.
Self-study and homework assignments are part of your course. You will be expected to complete your self-study assignments and may use our multi-media centers and specialized software. 

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available, either in addition to another course or on their own. Private instruction is especially suitable for students who need to improve their English language skills for a specific purpose, usually associated with business or the professions. Instructors are selected from faculty who have expertise and academic qualifications in the chosen area.
